Matej is a PhD student (Masaryk University, Brno) studying phylogeography and species diversification in small leaf-litter frogs of Central Africa (Phrynobatrachus, Arthroleptis).

His general interests cover vertebrate evolution and ecology with special interests in herpetology. He is also very interested in tropical ecosystems and their rich biodiversity, especially the Afrotropic ecozone including Madagascar.

Apart from research Matej is an enthusiast for popularization of science, a keen photographer and cameraman of nature, and a wildlife guide whenever the time allows.

Daniel is an external member of our team based at the Comenius University in Bratislava (Slovakia). His PhD study on the evolutionary history of anguid lizards in the Balkans is co-supervised by Vašek.
